Conservation Works at Milton Abbey

Having achieved confirmation of our Heritage Lottery grant in December 2017 and also being in receipt of funding from Viridor credits earlier that year we are now well into the essential conservation works to make the Abbey safe, more habitable and suitable for community use and sustainable for coming generations.

The following images are from display boards installed in the Abbey to give some idea of the work already completed and presently in hand. A very real benefit to the Abbey, community and visitors from the gifts and donations we have gratefully received.

Additionally, we will shortly commence work on new visitor facilities adjacent to the Abbey which will provide WC and a kitchenette for light catering. Once completed this will be complemented by a new café style area within the Abbey.

We have and exciting new exhibition for 2018 which is the first of four phases of historic interpretation to enable our portrayal of over 1,000 years of the Abbey's history.
